Film day finish (hopefully)

Today we discussed our reschedule day to be March 23rd. I took work off this day, as we also had school off. I believe we all hope that today we are going to accomplish our filming. We currently have 1 minute and 15 seconds of our film so we have 45 more seconds we need to fill and fortunately for us we still have quite a bit of filming to do. We have night scenes left and a couple morning scenes.  After we complete these tasks, Chris our editor and director will edit the rest of the movie and me and danny will start filming our CCRs.

Film Day failed pt 2

FILM DAY FAILED Unfortunately we had another film day that was failed again. After Danny canceled on us for the club, we decided we were going to film the rest of our movie on March 23rd. Unfortunately, I had to study for a math exam that interfered with our filming. My mom did not want me going to film this day last minute because she wanted me to study so I had to cancel on my group members to do so. I told them I was free the weekend of 27th-29th but I got no response from my team.  I plan on discussing with them for a good reschedule day when we go back to school.

Film Planning day

New Filming day As I said in my previous post, our teammate failed to follow through with our original day to finish filming. So this left us with trying to find a new day to continue our filming process.  As a group we decided that on March 23rd, we we going to film the whole day, starting with finishing our morning scenes going till the nighttime scenes for us to finish. I have an appoitment at 7 however, so when I go to my appointment, Chris and Danny will work on the production title and fonts.  This should be our last day filming so we then will be able to go to start editing our movie and starting our final blogs. We are going to have this day planned out far in advance so we do not disrupt anymore of our filming schedule. We are going to have that day restricted to all group members for making plans that day. This alspo includes us taking off work because we have to finish filming so we can start editing.

Film day failed

Film Day Failed My group and I decided that we were going to finish filming our night time scenes on Saturday, March 7th. We were going to meet between 6 and 6:30 at Chris's house to finish the night-time scenes that we needed to complete that we were unable to complete when we last filmed. Unfortunately around 5:30 as I was getting ready, my teammate, Daniel Sanchez, texted the group chat saying he had a "family matter" he had to deal with. Later that night Chris discovered he was actually at a club in Tampa FL. So he ultimately canceled filming on me and Chris to go to a club so we now have to film 2 weeks later and extend the process of our work.  This screwed us over and did not help our group whatsoever. This showed Chris and I that Danny seems unreliable in our group and not committed to this project, as me and Chris on the other hand are committed and do work to finish the project so we can accomplish this class with a good grade. He put no thought into our group...

About me

About Me My name is Hailey Pollom. I am a senior at Sarasota high school and I am originally from Chicago and I plan to go to college at Eckerd in St. Pete Florida.  I grew up watching movies with my mom and watching shows. I never got into what people would call "oldies" but I love all the classics like "Dirty Dancing," "Napolean Dynamite," "Talledega Nights," "Neverending story," and more. I grew up watching Romantic Comedies mainly with my mom with my favorite being the "notebook" or "10 things I hate about you." I also watch a lot of 90s-2000s shows like "the OC," "One Tree Hill," etc. Being able to be in this media studies class and learn about how movies and films are made has adapted my mindset every time I watch something now. I can see the movie and films in a whole new perspective such as being able to watch the lighting changes and how certain sounds can make a whole difference in a s...

Movie Poster This movie poster we felt strongly represents our film. The dim lighting of the dark greys and browns highlights the deep and dark background of our film. The shadows creates a tone of almost a cold dim atmosphere that can make our audience feel almost unwanted or put a sense of stress on them. Along with that, the contrast between light and dark within the poster sends a mood of love and hate and the sunrise and sun lighting makes it seem like there is a sense of hope and freedom lying ahead.  The movie title we picked seemed like it best fits our characters and movie plot because the plot of the movie is a loving couple that has this evil between them separating them from their love. The evil is acts of violence and hatred and the "Glass between us" fits the plot as the glass being those acts of violence and hatred throughout the film and throughout the couples relationship. The title creates and tension between the audience and movie that will draw them into...

Equipment

Image
Equipment We began prepping for our film by deciding what equipment we need to make this film go through.  STEADY CAM To start, we are going to borrow a steady cam from my teacher so we can get all the shots without any shakiness to the camera. This will also allow us to smoothly move around each scene we have to act and will make it easier for Chris to film.  MAKEUP We will then use eyeshadow and other makeup products to make our bruises for the movie we need more realistic. It will help portray real injuries like you may see in real life. It will help the audience understand the severity of the actions we will show in the film.

Casting

Casting The casting of our movie was going to be based off of a stereotypical household where the man of the house is running the jobs while the woman of the house is cooking, cleaning, and doing work from home. The man in this case is going to be Danny and me (Hailey) as the woman.  Danny and I have previously been in a relationship in the past, so we have experienced what it is like to argue with each other over the 2 years we were together. Although it was not to the extent that will be in our opening, it will be easier for us to act out with each other specifically considering it has happened in real life and real time. And the relationship aspect will be easy because although we are Ex's', we get along fairly well and will be able to easily act out the relationship scenes as we have been there before as well.  We broke up mid planning of the movie but were able to work through it so there was not any tension within our movie, but this also helped planning go a lot ...

Research for movie opening

Movie opening research After we decided on our genre and characters for the movie, we started to move along with more of our plot. We began doing research on how domestic violence with substance abuse is usually portrayed. Our sources and hearing from personal stories from what we have seen have told us that substance abuse and domestic violence is usually portrayed in a very confusing way. It can usually be someone that everyone least expects.  Some movies that include domestic violence and substance abuse might be the movie "Waves," or the movie "Precious." The movie waves I have watched many times before. It is a very deep and has a major background. The tone of the movie is very slow and melancholy but shows progression of anger and held back emotions that lead to the abuse of both substances and a significant other.   I also recently watched a movie called "It Ends With Us" which shows strongly of a woman who is deeply in love with a man that abuses...

Character analysis

Image
Character Analysis After long discussions on who are characters will be, we decided the best way to go about our film are to create characters that are more realistic and will have more of an emotional effect for our audience.  I (Hailey) will be a modern day stay at home wife who is going to be wearing jeans. My character is going to be a soft hearted wife who loves her husband dearly and cares for him and does things for him as he is going to be a "hard working" man. Although her husband is a drunk, she grew up loving people for who they are so she never thinks twice when he drinks to much. She gets blindsided by the love he gives her and the love she has for him and never knows when its gone to far. She doesn't read between the lines and has always been taught to forgive for who has done wrong. She will be seen wearing a cardigan with a shirt underneath and a pair of blue jeans with a belt for the main part of our film. Another half of the film, she will be seen waki...

Planning our film

Planning our film For the beginning of the planning of our film, we started with me, Chris and Danny discussing ideas. We figured that since a majority of people are doing horror or comedy films, we wanted to do something that was going to be more intense and capture our audience into a reality that was more real. We then decided who will be taking what role. Chris as our director, and Danny and I as actors. However, for storyboards, scripts, film schedules, we will all work on together. Chris as the director will decide filming locations, lighting, camera work. Danny and I will be deciding our costumes for the roles we will be playing within our film. I will as well be in charge of props and special effects for makeup such as fake blood and makeup for bruising.  For our postproduction, we will collaboratively give ideas on songs, editing, etc. But Chris will mainly decide as he edits and through directing what would work best for our film.  The ideas we have for filming ...

Genre film reserach study

FILM: PRECIOUS ·                    Camera shots, angles, movements, focus and framing observations and the meanings they create. Use detailed examples.  m- - The Opening scene of this movie made it start with the feelings and meanings of claustraphobic. The camera used close ups to exaggerate facial expressions. They use shaky camera movements to emphasize the uneasy tension during conflict. The camera often lingers on details such as bruises as well. ·          Editing techniques and the tone, mood or meaning they help create.  _     - Quick cuts are used during moments of abuse making it seem chaotic and give it more of a tension feeling behind the scenes.
